Attack on channel 24 operator in the Kharkov market: OSCE reaction appeared
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Arlem Dezir, condemned the brutal beating of channel 24 operator and Izvestia portal Vadim Makaryuk and called on the Ukrainian authorities to thoroughly investigate this crime.
The corresponding statement was released on Tuesday, June 11th.
“I condemn the attack and beating Vadim Makaryuk and urge the authorities to make every effort to immediately bring the perpetrators to this responsibility,” he said.
The OSCE representative stressed that attacks and attacks on journalists are unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
Investigators have already opened criminal proceedings under article 345-1 (threat or violence against a journalist), article 171 (obstruction of the lawful professional activities of journalists) and article 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty for sanctions articles provides for up to 10 years in prison.
