Bukovina head of the border guards caught on a bribe

Security Service of Ukraine together with the Military Prosecutor’s Office detained on bribe the head of one of the offices of Border Service Chernovtsy border detachment

Extortionists demanded Bukovinians 1000 euros for the promotion of illegal smuggle cigarettes across the state border outside border crossing points.

Law enforcers arrested while receiving bribe undue advantage at a petrol station in one of the regional centers of Chernivtsi region.

During searches in the office rooms of the border guard security services operatives also seized 38 rounds of unaccounted for firearms of different caliber.

Open criminal proceedings in h. 3 tbsp. 368 (receipt of undue benefits) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Also addressed the issue of the opening of criminal proceedings under Art. 263 (illegal handling of ammunition) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Continued urgent investigative actions to establish the facts of other possible bribery border guard.
