Ex-deputy prosecutor of the Kiev region helped steal sugar by 211 million, – NABU

The pre-trial investigation was completed with regard to the former deputy prosecutor of the Kyiv region and two people suspected of stealing sugar stored at the warehouses of the Agrarian Fund,
This is reported by the press service of NABU.

“According to the investigation, in the period from July 2015 to February 2016, heads of economic entities, with the assistance of employees of the prosecutor’s office and the State Executive Service, committed the theft of sugar sand of the State Bank” Agrarian Fund “for the amount of UAH 211.65 million,” reads the report. The Bureau.

Ex-deputy prosecutor of the Kiev region is charged with crimes provided for by Part 5 of Art. 27, part 5 of Article 119 (“Assignment, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position”), Part 1 of Art. 366 (“Official forgery”), Part 2 of Art. 343 (“Interference in the activities of a law enforcement officer”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

An ex-official of the State Executive Service of the Main Territorial Department of Justice in the Cherkassy region is suspected of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 364 (“Abuse of power or official position”) and Part 2 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The head of the economic entity is charged with the crimes provided for by Part 5, Article 139, part 2 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine

  • Pre-trial investigation of the above facts detective NABU began in early February 2016 on their own developments.
  • On May 18, 2016, the detectives of NABU detained the deputy prosecutor of the Kiev region. On May 19 he was informed of suspicion.
  • On June 16, an official of an enterprise involved in the scheme of stealing state sugar was detained.
