In Kiev, two prosecutors exposed on a bribe of $ 5,000

In the capital, two prosecutors were detained for receiving $ 5,000 from an entrepreneur. This was reported in the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

“Investigators of the administration of the State Bureau of Investigation, located in the city of Kiev, detained two prosecutors of one of the local prosecutors for extortion and obtaining undue benefits from the entrepreneur,” the statement said.

According to preliminary information, the prosecutors of one of the Kiev local prosecutor’s offices demanded $ 5,000 from the entrepreneur. For undue profit, law enforcement officers promised not to prosecute the entrepreneur and assistance in the work of his gas station. Funds were transferred to prosecutors through the mediation of a civilian.

The GDB reported that they detained prosecutors when they received undue benefits. Searches were also conducted at the place of work of law enforcement officers.

Now it is planned to inform detainees about the suspicion and election of a preventive measure against law enforcement officers.

Bureau investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining undue benefits by an official, combined with extortion of such benefits).

In case of proof of guilt, the detainees face a sentence of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities, with confiscation of property.
