DW figured out the reasons. Not only Ekaterina Gandzyuk: who are the “unknown” activists killed?Nikolay Yarema is one of four activists who died in Ukraine over the past two years. In Kiev, human rights activist Irina Nozdrovsku was killed. She was investigating the murder of her sister, who was hit by a local nephew’s car. In Berdyansk, a local public activist and ATO member Vitaly Oleshko, who fought against the abuse of Zaporizhzhya authorities, was shot dead. On the same day, an activist Yekaterina Gandzyuk was poured with acid in Kherson. And in the early summer of 2018, young eco-activists Nikolai Bychok died in Kharkiv, who, in particular, exposed the abuses of local enterprises, which poured sewage into the reservoirs. Nicholas Taurus was found hanged in the woods near the village of Eskhar. According to anti-corruption, the police initially did not really want to investigate these cases. Why?
