Ukrainian businessman, the owner of Zhytomyr confectionery factory went on a hunger strike in protest against illegal arrest and beating. About it reports a press-service of the businessman.

“American businessman on hunger strike in protest against illegal arrest and beating. It requires the court, prosecution and police to stop violating his rights and be given the opportunity to defend themselves in accordance with the law. Today it will try to get the staff of the US Consulate,” – said in the message.

According to information, after the announcement of the decision, in which the court has arrested Igor Boyko for 2 months with the right to bail, the guards took him to jail, but the lawyers were not allowed to client.

“In the Pechersk police Department could not explain lawyers Boyko, where is their client. The prison service reported that it did not took delivered smartly in Lukyanivka prison, as it had obvious traces of beatings”, – says the press service.

As reports a press-service, only to midnight, it became known that Boyko is the hospital.

“Police officers who escorted him, tried to negotiate with the doctor on duty that he did not record the traces of beatings and fortune. Commandos with weapons surrounded and arrested a long time were not given access to lawyers and impeded the work of journalists”, – stated in the message.

Boyko lawyers insist that their client was deprived of the right to defense, had been illegally detained and tortured by the police. The defense intends to appeal the actions of the police in the Prosecutor’s office and the office of the Commissioner for human rights.
