The editor-in-chief of the site “Country.ua” Igor Guzhva was put on the wanted list
The editor-in-chief of the publication “Country.ua” Igor Guzhva, who is now in Austria, was put on the wanted list. The corresponding decision was made by Shevchenkovsky district court of Kyiv, “Channel 5” reports.
On the announcement of Guzhva on the wanted list, the prosecutor’s office petitioned, claiming that the suspect was evading the investigation. According to the prosecutor, the fugitive will be detained when his location is established.
At the same time, lawyers of Guzhva claim that their client is being treated abroad and will return to Ukraine on 20 February. “I think this is premature. The courts were provided with all the information that now he is being treated, “- said the lawyer Elena Klimenko.
As reported by Radio Liberty, in the search bases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine there is no editor-in-chief of the publication “Country.ua” Igor Guzhva. In addition, in the section “Persons who hide from the authorities” it is also absent.
Recall, on June 22 in Kiev, the editor-in-chief of the publication “Country.ua” Igor Guzhva was detained on suspicion of extortion of 10 thousand US dollars. Guzhva said that money was offered to him by the People’s Deputy of the Radical Party, Dmitry Linko, for withdrawing information from the website, allegedly compromising him as a politician. However, Linko claims that Guzhva extorted money from him. According to the prosecutor’s office, the money in Linko was demanded by Guzhva’s assistant.
At the end of January 2018, it became known that Guzhva asked for political asylum in Austria, having left there.
Guzhva himself stated that the criminal case against him had been falsified.
