They recorded 13 violations of freedom of speech in Ukraine In May

It is noted that the main type of violation of the rights of journalists were cases of obstruction of legitimate journalistic activities – 7 (April – 8, March – 15, February – 11, January – 7).
“In general, violations of the freedom of speech IMI recorded in seven regions. The leader in the number of violations traditionally became Kiev, where four cases were recorded this month. Then follow Volyn with three cases, Odessa – with two and with isolated cases Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, Kherson region and Cherkasy, ”the message reads. Violators of the rights of journalists were private individuals, law enforcement, judicial and local authorities. In addition, in May, the IMI experts recorded two cases in three categories: beating: attack in Cherkassy on the journalist and video blogger Vadim Komarov; an attack by customs officers on journalists from Lutsk-based TV channel Avers; threats:
in Volyn, the journalist of the site “Radar” Natalia Kaishnikoviy, through a friend, was given the threat of murder; deputy of the Kherson Regional Council threatened journalist Oleg Baturin to “break his knees”; damage to property of journalists: in Volyn, journalist Natalia Kaishnikoviy set fire to the house; in Kiev, unknown persons set fire to the TVi editor-in-chief Vladimir Egorov. “The attack on Vadim Komarov has been a serious crime against a journalist since the beginning of the year, which was recorded by the IMI. As you know, the journalist is still in a medical coma, ”the report says. Since the beginning of the year, IMI has recorded 48 cases of obstruction, 12 cases of threats, 5 cases of beatings.

Recall, the Institute of Mass Information recorded 14 violations of freedom of speech in Ukraine in April, of which 11 cases concerned physical aggression.
