SBU forcibly keeps people to exchange with LDNR – human rights defenders
On June 11, the Kharkiv Human Rights Group presented a report titled “Enforced disappearances in Ukraine and missing during the military conflict in the east of the country in 2014-2018.”
According to the report, the Security Service of Ukraine resorts to forcible retention of people for exchange with the “DNR” and “LNR”.
This was announced by the director of the organization Evgeny Zakharov, while delivering a report at the Ukrainian media center.
“They (SBU – Prim.red.) Are looking for people involved in the commission of crimes that are under investigation by the SBU, begin to work with them, offering them an exchange.” People usually do not have a way out, they agree. “They are kept in an unknown place without any assistance, any connection with the outside world, “he said.
The content of people continues until their exchange. According to the human rights activist, these cases are classic enforced disappearance.
“Unfortunately, the Security Service feels absolutely unpunished in this sense,” Zakharov said.
He stressed that the body responsible for the security of the state is committing acts that qualify as a crime under international law.
The human rights activist added that these actions are “sufficiently massive and systematic.”
